Leadership isn't about titles; it's about impact. And for generations, women have been redefining leadership in boardrooms, battlefields, and beyond.
While the world celebrates International Women’s Day, I believe this conversation should go beyond just one day. It’s about recognizing the power, resilience, and purpose that women bring to leadership—every single day.
The Power of Purpose in Leadership
Being a leader isn’t just about authority—it’s about the belief you carry and the impact you make. Yet, sometimes, before we can lead others, we have to learn to believe in ourselves first.
My Defining Moment in Leadership
In 2005, I deployed to Iraq and was selected as a convoy commander. I was the only female Non-Commissioned Officer (E6) given this role, leading alongside three senior male NCOs (E7s). And to be honest? I didn’t believe in myself.
I questioned whether I was truly capable of leading in such a high-stakes environment. But those three senior NCOs—who had every reason to doubt me—didn’t. Instead, they told me:
“We trust you. You have the fortitude and grit to do this job.”
At that moment, for the first time, I embraced who I was. I realized I was a person of influence—not just because of my rank, but because of my ability to lead with purpose and resilience. Just as they influenced me, I was influencing those around me.
The Resilience of Women Leaders
Women have always led—with or without the title. Whether it’s leading troops, businesses, families, or movements, resilience is what sets Purpose-Driven Leaders apart.
We don’t wait for permission. We adapt, push forward, and command our lives—even when doubt tries to creep in.
Inspiring Change with Every Step
International Women’s Day is not just about celebrating progress; it’s about continuing it. As leaders, mentors, and changemakers, we must continue to blaze new paths, create inclusive spaces, and lift each other up.
This is why I am committed to empowering all individuals through leadership—regardless of background, gender, or circumstances. When we lead with purpose, we create a ripple effect that encourages others to rise, lead, and make their own impact.
Your Turn to Lead
So, let this be your reminder: You are a Purpose-Driven Leader. You don’t need a title to make an impact. You just need the courage to embrace your influence and lead with purpose.
